The Letter of Jude is one of those obscure “books” of the New Testament. You could scour the vastness of the internet and maybe come up with forty or so messages recorded on the Letter. In a time when Denominations are too numerous to count and the number of churches is enormous Nationwide. The Letter of Jude is written with a sense of urgency about it. Jude speaks of his eagerness to write about the salvation we share.

“I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.”

The urgency is that something was amiss at the time he penned his letter, certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. Ungodly people, who pervert the grace of God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

Two thousand years later and we are living in a time when the body of Christ is more divided than ever before. Not just theologically, not just doctrinally, but socially, politically, culturally and in just about every other way imaginable.

Jude feels what the body feels. He feels the despair, the pain, the corruption and the desire to cry out to the Lord and seek deliverance. So, He reminds everyone of some things they already know. How the Lord delivered His people out of Egypt, later, destroying those who did not believe. He continues with a few other examples and even quotes an obscure book we cannot even find in the canon.

Imagine a time when the church was starting to be corrupted, they knew it was coming, watched it happened and there was nothing they could really do to stop it. What would you tell people? That is exactly why we are here. Shepherding the Heart Ministries is a website, not an Organization. It is a ministry by two men who love the Lord and desire to do the very things Jude explains from verses 17-25.

Dear Friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” These are the very same people that divide you who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. Be merciful to those who doubt, save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear-hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

Now, to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy- to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
